Portrait session, 10 March

Hannah. Gouache in sketchbook, 2 Hour sitting.

I have been running a portraiture painting group for a couple of years in my town, attended by a small group of local artists. We usually have between five and twelve artists and one or two sitters, depending on the attendance numbers. The sitters are lit with 2 LED temperature-controlled lights.
The sessions last two and a half hours, allowing artists to get a good amount of practice drawing different faces each session.
Although artists are free to use whatever material they choose, many opt for oil paint. This session, I chose gouache, working in a thin watercolour-like manner to preserve the highlights in the hair to a thick paste for darks and other highlights.
